One Stop Search

This is a pet project of sorts (adapted from very old code to work with this site).  It’s designed to do help a researcher on a specific person or topic.  It’s all coded in Javascript, mainly because I don’t know how to do all the cool database stuff that would probably make this a more elegant process (yet).  It opens multiple tabs based on the number of sites you wish to search on, so you may have to temporarily trust this site/allow pop-ups in your respective browsers.  This was the only way I could think of to return the relevant data.

Of course, I don’t retain any data on the topics or people you choose to search on.  This site merely formats the request into a url-based query and passes that query to each site.

If anyone can think of a better way to develop this concept, please let me know.  I’d like to improve this tool beyond adding more sites.

Step One: Enter Data Fields

Term Person

Step Two: Pick your sites

Most Browsers will only open up to 10 tabs at a time.  Any number in parentheses indicates the total number of tabs that one selection can open for that selection if all fields are used, otherwise it’s just one search per selection.

Some searches will open multiple instances of the same site, but are actually using different search criteria.  Other searches may not be applicable to the criteria entered, so that site may be skipped.
